increasing incidents of such violations are a sign of the end of time, as the Prophet, God bless and grant him peace, said, “The time is coming when little children will be lusted after like you today have natural desires.” The ability to break this covenant of protection is called freewill. The rights and protection that God has given humans is to be upheld and honored by each of us. If anyone betrays that trust, then, in this world, the government has the authority and right to redress the wrong. In redressing the wrong, wholeness is restored, and healing can take place. If this does not occur, the victim must remember: there is a day when the divine redresser will right every wrong, heal every wound, fulfill every vow, and remove for all eternity the scars of this world that were unjustly inflicted by those who betrayed God’s protection

I read an interesting passage written by Charles Péguy (d. 1914). It is from his book, _Men and Saints_. I found this quote in Mark Van Doren’s essay, “Poets and Trimmers,” as he cites Péguy:

The modern world debases. Other worlds had other occupations. Other worlds had other ulterior motives, other ulterior intentions. Other worlds had other temporal pastimes. The modern world debases. Other worlds idealized or materialized, built or demolished, meted out justice or exercised force; other worlds created cities, communities, men, or gods. But the modern world debases. This is its specialty. I would almost say that this is its calling if the beautiful word calling were not above all to be respected. When the modern world debases, let us admit that then it is at its own work. The modern world debases. It debases the state; it debases man. It debases love; it debases woman. It debases the race; it debases the child. It debases the nation; it debases the family. It even debases … what is perhaps most difficult in the world to debase because this is something that has in itself, as in its texture, a particular kind of dignity, like a singular incapacity for degradation: it debases death.

Julian: ”Brooke, before I met you I thought my world had everything I needed to be happy. I had nothing else to compare it to. Then you walked into my life and everything changed. I realized how empty my world was without you in it. And my old life was no longer capable of making me happy, not without you.I love everything about you, Brooke. I love the way you challenge me, like no one ever has. I love the way you look at me, like no one ever has. And I love the way you love me, like no one ever has. I can’t imagine spending my life without you. And if you say yes to me in a few minutes, I won’t have to. You look beautiful by the way.”Brooke: ”Julian, before I met you my world revolved around one thing, me! And I liked it that way, on my own, but then I met you and you saw through the facade you saw me. You’ve taught me to trust and how to let someone in, and what it truly means to fall in love. I can’t possibly describe how much I love you, so I’ll tell you why I love you. You see the world in a way no else does, and you appreciate everything including me. There’s no one in the world like you. And if you say yes in a few minutes, I’ll get to spend the rest of my life trying to see the world through your eyes. Appreciating everything, including you. The most unique, wonderful, and terribly handsome man I’ve ever met.”Julian: ”Brooke, this ring symbolizes my desire for you to be my wife, from this day forward.”Brooke: ”Julian, this ring symbolizes my desire for you to be my husband, from this day forward.”Julian: ”Can I kiss my wife now?”Brooke: ”You Better.”
